Summer night sweater




Summer night sweater




Yarn:
Lane Mondial Dalamate, 5 hanks, Black (914).  
Lane Mondial Bio Soft, 2 hanks, Black (200).
Needles: 
4mm (circular needles and dpns for arms) and 7 mm (circular needle and eventually dpns for arms)
Notions: 
Stitch holder, stitch markers, sewing needle, crochet needle
Notes :  
Edges are knitted in brioche stitch in round. Main part is stockinette stitch.
Top edge is knitted first bottom-up from provisional cast-on. Then sweater is top down sweater (from the top edge down).
For Brioche Stitch parts 1 brioche row is 2 rows (since stitches are only knitted every second row) and number of stitches should always be multiple of 2 (so increases and decreases are always 2 stitches at a time).
Size: L, Total length 55 cm, Width at breast 48 cm, Arm length 60 cm,
Stiches:
Top edge
With a provisional cast on and yarn Bio Soft cast on very loosely 120 stitches. Knit in round – Place a stitch marker at end of row and in the middle opposite. Knit Brioche stitch in round for 10 (double rows).
Following row do a Brioche stitch decrease (so 2 stitches per decrease) on each side of the markers, at 8 stitches distance from the marker (112 stitches left). Knit the second row of the brioche row.
Knit 2 brioche rows in round (double rows).
Following row do a Brioche stitch decrease (so 2 stitches per decrease) on each side of the markers, at 6 stitches distance from the marker (104 stitches left). Knit the second row of the brioche row.
Knit 2 brioche rows in round (double rows).
Following row do a Brioche stitch decrease (so 2 stitches per decrease) on each side of the markers, at 4 stitches distance from the marker (96 stitches left). Knit the second row of the brioche row.
Knit 2 brioche rows in round (double rows).
Cast of loosely.
The decreases are meant to ensure that the sweater do not slip down from shoulders. Adjust number of decreases if necessary to your shoulders.
Body
Remove the provisional cast on from top edge. Pick up 120 stitches circular needles 7 and knit with yarn Dalmate in stockinette stitch 1 row. Place marker so as to have 36 stitches for back, 36 stitches for front and 24 stitches for arms (24 each).  
* Next row increase 1 stitch (simple in stockinette stitch) on each side of the 4 markers: 8 stitches increased. Knit 1 row. *
Repeat * to * 5 more times. There are now 168 stitches (48 for back and front and 36 for arms).
Set aside stitches for each arm on a stitch holder (or other circular needle).
Continue knitting on back and front by casting on 6 stitches for under the arms. There are now 108 stitches. Knit 6 rows. Set a marker at both sides.
** Knit 5 rows. Next row decrease 1 stitch each side of both markers: - 4 stitches **
Repeat ** to ** 6 more times. There are now 80 stitches.
Knit 12 rows.
Change yarn to Bio Soft and needles to 4 mm. Knit in Brioche in round for 12 Brioche rows (double). Place marker at each side (so 40 stitches apart).
On next row, do a Brioche increase (2 stitches) on each side of marker, at 1 stitches distance from the marker : + 8 stitches . There are now 88 stitches. Knit in brioche 5 rows (double).
On next row, do a Brioche increase (2 stitches) on each side of marker, at 3 stitches distance from the marker : + 8 stitches . There are now 96 stitches. Knit in brioche 5 rows (double).
Cast off loosely.
Arms
Remove stitches set aside for left arm from stitch holder and cast on additional 6 stitches under the arm. Knit in round 3 rows in stockinette stitch. Place marker in the middle under the arm. There are now 42 stitches
* Next row decrease 1 stitch each side of marker: - 2 stitches. Knit 5 rows. *
Repeat * to * 10 more times. There are 20 stitches left.
Change yarn to Bio Soft and needles to 4 mm. Knit in Brioche in round for 12 Brioche rows (double). Cast off loosely.
Repeat the same pattern for right arm.
Finisihing
Sew in hole under the arms.
